Well that's all about to change with the recent opening of Barchef smack in the heart of hipster central, Queen St West (472 Queen St W.). But don't let its address fool you, there is substance beneath its style (which it has heaps of). Frankie Solarik has been credited with pioneering the barchef movement in Toronto and his flare for the shaker has garnered him international acclaim. Yet after one sip of the "Barchef Rocket" you'll forgot all this. It'll whisk you back to your childhood when you spent the summer sucking on those perfect tricoloured popsicles called "rockets."

Now when you're parents says you need to go back to school, you'll know exactly where they mean. After a somewhat low-key opening in the up-and-coming Liberty Village, School bakery and Caf has garnered a loyal following. The line-ups for the weekend brunch start early (we're talking 10am here people). So if you don't want detention call it an early night and be sure not to sleep in; or you might just miss one of the best early morning meals west of Bathurst St. And on the way out make sure to grab one of their miraculous muffins, just to make you're school yard friends jealous.

The best kept furniture secret from the States has finally made its way into our neck of the woods. West Elm (a youthful subsidiary of William Sonoma), opened its doors to Toronto in October and the stylish have flocked to its low prices and sleek design. While some of the larger items require assembly it's a small price to pay for the modern and trendy furniture (and they do offer assembly for those of us who are just too busy). Think of it as an upscale Ikea, without the trek to the 'Burbs.

Movie Event
Imagine forty of you and your closest friends gathering for drinks, food, and a film days before anyone else gets to see it. Only for the cultural elite you think? Not so. The CFC recently held its first ever Boutique Film Screening of "A Haunting in Connecticut" at Circa nightclub. For only $20 you got the movie, some hors d'oeuvre and three drink tickets. How can you go wrong? Well one way would be to miss out on the next one. They announced that there will be many more this summer, so be sure to get your tickets early.

Monthly Party
Even though it's been around for a couple years, the monthly gay R&B nights at Wrong Bar are still going strong with line-up forming early and the guest list always full. Dress up to be seen, or slip in unnoticed; the greatest thing about the event (the first Friday of every month) is the diverse crowd of homo's, hags, hipster wannabe's and their entourage. Even the odd celeb has been known to show up; Drew Barrymore made headlines when she popped by for a quick drink and booty shake. So get on the guest list if you want to make it in this time.
