Out pop stars (and recent Out magazine cover subjects) the Pet Shop Boys are celebrating 25 years as chart toppers with their ninth number 1 single “Love, Etc.” The honor comes a quarter century after the English duo of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe released their breakthrough hit “West End Girls.”
With this first single off their acclaimed new album, Yes, the twosome now holds the record for the most number 1 singles by a group on Billboard magazine’s Dance/Club chart.
The Boys, who made news earlier this year by refusing to change their name to Rescue Shelter Boys at the request of PETA, will launch their North American tour in Montreal on August 28.
