Did Craigslist Killer Target Men?

Philip Markoff Police initially believed that alleged Craiglist Killer Philip Markoff was targeting women exclusively. But NBC News reports that the med student, who is accused of killing one woman and assaulting two others in Massachusetts and Rhode Island after contacting them via Craigslist, was also soliciting men on the site.

One of the men Markoff contacted through Craigslist gave an interview to NBC News, which ran on Today. According to the corporate professional from Boston, who chose to remain anonymous, Markoff responded to an ad that he had posted in Craigslist's Casual Encounters section seeking men interested in transsexuals.

Markoff, who is engaged to a woman, sent this man explicit emails and photos of himself. While most of the images couldn't be shown on broadcast television, Today showed a few, including one of Markoff looking rather wholesome and another shot of his naked torso. Police subsequently found the very same pictures on Markoff's computer hard drive when they searched his apartment, according to the report.

Another chilling revelation: Sources tell NBC News that Markoff emailed this guy using the same Yahoo address that he used to contact his alleged female victims.

While the man interviewed by NBC News never met Markoff in person, he is, not surprisingly, frightened to think that he even corresponded with an alleged murderer who—at least online—seemed like " a great guy."

Meanwhile, you have to wonder if any guys were victims of Markoff's alleged mayhem. Police are now looking into that possibility.

Given all this, are those of you who go on the Internet in search of casual sex thinking twice about hooking up with guys you've met online?
