Just Married: Jim Verraros

Singer and American Idol alum Jim Verraros said "I do" to Bill Brennan in the couple’s home state of Illinois over the holiday weekend. Verraros told People magazine the ceremony was designed to be personal to the couple, saying, "Every little choice reflected who we are.... Gay marriage is not legal in Illinois, but we wanted the day to be a reflection of our love and commitment to each other as well as a statement to other gay couples in Illinois."
The grooms wore matching Tom Ford bow ties, and each chose his father to serve as best man. "Since this is a gay wedding, we wanted both traditional touches as well as original ones," Verraros says. "It was the most beautiful day." The ceremony also included a unity ritual, symbolized by the couple and their family members pouring individual glasses of colored sand into one large vase.

The happy couple met on MySpace after Verraros appeared on the first season of Idol. "I wanted to meet someone with substance and he changed my life," Verraros says of his new husband. "He's an incredible person."
